there was a time that her heart
beat fast when her lover was near
then came a time when simple trust
was replaced by sorrow and fear
years sailed by leaving in their wake
wisdom’s pearls resting on time’s sand
and walls were built on foundations
laid by the treachery of a man
there was a time, oh so long ago,
her heart kept love and hope alive
but now she waits on a lonely shore
beached mermaid striving to survive
her tears have fallen into wild waves
of a vast ocean dark and deep
and there will be no lover to weep
when the mermaid falls asleep
Belle: What a beautifully written poem..You know that mermaids are one of my favorite subjects..You have such a knack with this type of poetry, I can almost feel her yearning...
A very sad mermaid was she. It is weird I guess even for me, you see I fall in love with even your fictional characters. I actually wish I could take the the Lost mermaid into a passionate embrace. This was a great poem!
"wisdom’s pearls resting on time’s sand" wow...as the rest of this beauty~ (funny a week ago I saw a beautiful mermaid photo, long read hair and I thought of you thinking you would love it..and then comes this poem...crazy huh?)
Belle, I hope that it is pure muse and just a view of the eternal ebb and flow of love and life, mermaid's will and all. May peace and love be with you my dear friend. Jon Michael
...if she manages to sleep at all. You do it again, Belle, you capture the essence of life with all its losses and failures after the glories of love and beauty...just hope it's cyclical and the good returns again.
Fine resonance in this work.
A loneliness time can't erase and when her heart beats it's last, eternity swims in the tides of ancient what was...mythical depth and emotional tides washed upon the shore of this timeless poetry, Belle...be well.
This is my personal inspirational book of poetry. It contains many poems written for family, friends, and relevant life situations. Hopefully you will find some that will encourage and inpsire you in whatever arena you are found in your circle of l
