Belle, you have reached into the abyss that is the decision to devote oneself to these duties. Family makes it a commitment that seems obligatory, though it is not in fact. It is the individual's love for the one that is now infirm that drives such devotion. Even with deep abiding love as the motivation, a numbness eventually overwhelms the giver. The commitment consumes every bit of mental will power we can muster. And as Carole Mathys so aptly captures, "Commitment of this dimension is a lonely place to live". May peace and love be with you my dear friend. Jon Michael
Some women are trapped inside a vicious cycle of self-sacrifice. I was once, and hope to inspire women to value themselves. Great and very expressive poem.
I'D LIKE TO THINK THAT...SOMEWHERE DEEP INSIDE...THERE IS THAT 'SO HARD TO COMPREHEND' SATISFACTION...THAT REST...WHICH BEING COMMITTED BRINGS TO A HEART STILL FILLED WITH LOVE'S BEAUTIFUL ESSENCE, DESPITE WEARINESS. A GEM AND A PLEASURE. THANKS FOR SHARING, LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Sounds a like the subject of your poem uses the fantasy written in verse. Authorsden to go where the imagination can take you, but your reality no long can.
Very compelling. I think sometimes of the old Peggy Lee son "Is that all there is". Maybe I will need a pusher soon. As always Dear Lady an excellent writing.
GOD BLESS YOU

There are,of course, far too many scenery such as this playing out in the world.I was the pusher foe years until Dottie gave it up a year ago last year. Would that I was still pushing that chair. I still have it and I see it everyday biding its time in the corner of a room. God, intelligent write.
I find this poem a moving tribute to all people who surrender their live in the interests of an incapable loved one. They make that choice, and do it lovingly, but there must be times when they wish...
Best wishes Belle

Wow Belle, You have painted so gracefully one of life's painful riddles.
Or it can be a man, too, in some instances that so faithfully endures.
Ouch. All of these private vows. Ouch.
Belle,
You have just described one of my aunts who took care of her mother in her final years, patiently, calmly, with unimaginable sacrifice.
This is from your core; I'm not as speechless as Kate (obviously) but I ought to be.
Thank you.
who rarely tell of their private hell.
Over 6 billion people on this planet and yet so many live in such a dead end street.
Such a valuable write about human conditioning, being fed from birth on a prize of lies.
GOD BLESS YOU
