A Groovy Couple

I wonder sometimes
how it would have been
if we had spent our youth together
wrapped up in each others love

hard to imagine you in long hair
and seventies bell bottoms
tearing around a racetrack
like a mad man

I wore miniskirts, go go boots
bell bottoms and hot pants
what a pair we would have made
young and passionate, full of life

we would have danced and traveled
the length and breadth of America
visited Scotland and Ireland
Greece and Italy too

we would have made babies
and raised them together
with love and sacrifice
they would have been happy

but the years we have left
are all we have now
we will make them beautiful
with love and laid back adventures
