Long Ago Locket When you notice my wrinkles mahogany hair turned gray look back on the locket you will find it in your heart I don't look that way now but long ago I turned heads at times I felt beautiful but now I just feel old except when you tell me I'm still beautiful in your eyes

There's something magical that happens when you look at someone now and remember them as they were when you first loved them.

When people see through the superficial they will find real love, not artificial feigned love of this throwaway mentality.

Your poem clearly points out the problem that women have about what their real beauty is. Almost every young woman has some semblance of beauty granted by youth.

But as they look at pictures taken way back then, their self image changes to one of worry about what's happening to them physically.

But the men who love them and continue to love them for more than just their physical beauty but their inner beauty that shows in behavior and no other way.

My partner asks me that question every day. She hasn't changed in 30 years.
