You ask if I still love you,
how could you ask such a thing
I said I’d love you forever
the day I wore your ring.
I know you’re getting older,
I’m getting older too,
you say because of your failing
health, how can I put up with you.
Traveling through life’s journey
is sometimes a bumpy road
But sometimes it's' a fresh paved highway
Which way, we can never know.
We travelled that road together
Sometimes not knowing what to do
It really didn’t matter; as long as I was
there with you.
We took our vows so long ago
And I still want you to know
“For richer or for poorer
In sickness and in health”
You’re my love, my life,
I will forever and a day
be your loving wife.
For my Vincent
This is such a beautiful poem—full of deep feeling, thought, and love. I happened upon it just a moment ago. I’ve read it three times now, once to my wife and twice to myself. It’s title reminded me of the poem I wrote and read to my wife during the gathering and celebration of our 50th anniversary. However, yours is much better. At least, I think it is. All this being said, I invite you to read “Until Death Do We Part.”
