WASTED Heads turn as he struts by Exaggerated intelligence Wall Street Gladiator Freshly mowed grass Diesel fumes linger Pungent city scents An ambulance screams Shrill harbinger Another violent statistic Lost adolescence Dreams of lofty heights His warm blood Splattered on the chilly sidewalk Sarcastic street encounter Fatal robbery Wasted In the blink of an eye Frantic friends and family Left to wonder why � Bill Grimes Jr. 2007

Always such a terrible loss when people are killed for no apparent reason. Your piece cuts right to the point in this one, very well done....

Very striking poetry. An urban landscape, sadness of an atmosphere skillfully presented. A tragedy takes place, a life is wasted, but who cares? Some do, although there is widespread indifference all around.

Bill, these words ring in much truth...I just wrote a poem about the same things. Very profound & prolific with images and the ability for this readers mind to imagine many horrific scenes. A Great Poem!
