Christmas day

Come and gone

Counting new blessings

Licking old wounds

A time of contemplation

Gratitude

Sheer wonder

Divine celebration

My reason to be

Hardly impressed

Broad commercial siege

Video games

Guitar heroes

A Savior in a manger

Twelve mortal tribes

One holy king

The dollar

Tumbles quickly

Skepticism reigns

Stark admonitions

Rife

Rampant gall

It seems we’ve lost our way

Along the storied climb

Selfish eyes

Triumphant

Swollen ego precept

A cautionary tale

Unfolds without restraint

Complicated days

Spiritual debase

Quiet time I seek

Reverent reflection

Continued separation

Love

All that matters

All that does matter is love and it's cost is priceless when it appears.

A profound write my friend, well done...for it is the simple and small things in life that bring the most satisfying pleasure. I was thinking while I read this poem about how some things never change, they stand the test of time and continue to bring joy and peace to our life year after year, certain traditions that remain in tact, while other fly by night ideas, whims, and phases simply fade with the passing of time...as I hung my children's time worn ornaments on the tree this year many that have been hung for more than twenty five and twenty six years still bring as much joy as they did the year that they were bought. Someone ask me if I was ever going to change the theme and color design on my Christmas tree...I simply answered no, that I enjoyed the traditional ornaments of love each bought with heart, or made with loving tender hands...well just rambling now, but a great write does that to one. Hope you had a merry Christmas and will have a happy New Year. It feels great to be back at the den, I've missed everyone.
Blessings,
Joyce B.

You have stated it well, look to the small, simple things because they bring the most pleasure. Love of family, God and togetherness will always triumph....

Be safe,
Karen

You summed it up well Bill! Still the hope is alive and well because He lives and is forever present in those who believe, so we can still make the difference!
