Anytime my OLD computer starts a tantrum I tell it that cut it off or I will pull the plug and get me a younger one in exchange.
After it, its behavior can't be more impeccable!

I've had modem troubles before ... especialy with Dell computers. I finally pulled the modem out of an old Compaq and replaced their new, fancy, useless one with it. Been working great since. We'll be watching for you, my friend.
