Ah Karla, I have a friend that has "self-published" his one book, specifically, Scott Zachary another writer on AD. Get in touch with him, mayhaps he can give you advice regards getting published? But I am sure we all on this forum know how you feel, keep pluggin' away, with your talent, it WILL happen eventually! I hear you Karla loud and clear my little Texas Friend. Strong intent here my friend...from the heart. The somewhat anger or perhaps dismay echos through your written word in this. We as writters/poets feel your peril my friend as we all wonder why? Is there a secret? We don't know. Just keep writing your heartfelt emotions and someday, someone will listen.

The greatest poet of all for me was my grandfather.
He spent a life time trying to get published.
Poetry is just personal therapy for me...with a hope to perhaps touch another human being with something special in my heart.
You may not get published if you do that, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
You do that.
A lot of us are very greatful to hear you.

Excellent proclamation of every writers desire Karla a Very good piece here, and I feel that you are correct when you mention showing/ having the green. Yes, I hear you, and I do understand. It does seem to be, one of the last mysteries left to man...(getting published.) I too wear the same shoe, and At times it leaves one blue.

yeh...it's frustrating at times 'ain't' it?My bloody oath it is!
Don't worry karla,it WILL happen,mabe not overnight but it will happen...(yeh sure Kay we've all heard that one before)....Karla karla karla,I know EXACTLY how you feel.I don't have a book either
and probably never will but still I managed to get a few of my poems published by sending them to newspapers (not just the big ones but the local ones too) remember newspapers end up going into the state librarys of their countries so your work wont die if you get it in there,also poems on subjects (for example,roses or violets) can and do ( my voilet poem did) get accepted into local news letters if you send them,or gardening magazines(try it all) if you write a poem on anything ask yourself 'where or what magazine would be interested in this subject?' (example 'Greenpeace 'for environment subjects) never give up mate keep believeing in your own work and send it everywhere
and keep buying those lottery tickets (I will too),yes,that green stuff helps to get published but it isn't the only way to see your work out there.Never give up,look at Van Gough he only got recognised after death (no...that's not an option,wink wink,) but he's just an example of what can happen,putting your poems here is good,keep it up.
