A short poem on my take on the subject of life and death.
Please don’t mourn me when I die
I’ve lived and loved and looked with wonder at night’s star filled sky
My life has been a long trip with the freedom to live it my way
A life of discovery, adventure, excitement, yes even danger
But I’ve naught to complain for on that trip I chose the highway
In my youth I sailed the Ocean Seas from East to West
I witnessed death from war, natural disasters and disease
I’ve seen mankind at its worst and at its very best
Don’t mourn me when I die, for it’s just my time to go
I seek not Heaven and I fear not Hell because of something that I know
Both those places exist in the here and now and neither is above or below
In which place you dwell depends not so much on goodness or vice
But more on the choices you make on how to live your life
And where you landed, when God threw your natal dice
I was born in America so I guess God must have rolled me a seven
I’ve enjoyed excellent health, close friends, prosperity and a loving wife
No, don’t mourn me when I die, because I’ve already lived in heaven
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
