An eternity on the road She's doubled over in pain No time to grieve a lost child Need to get to the women's clinic
The drive was long The wait was longer
Wading through a sea of evangelical stereotypes "God have mercy on you" "You still have time, don't kill the child" "Murderers will be punished"
Stepping through the entrance My mind was branded with anger and disgust Wondering where her mind was; "You cannot go in sir" Wherever it was, she's alone
Opportunity for confrontation Back to the sea, wishing for KEVLAR "You can still stop her" "You are her husband, and will be held accountable by the lord"
I explained it was the baby or her, wondering if this type of ignorance could be approached "We're sorry for your loss" And it was agreed that apologies were in order
Inside she was my one love Battered, Beaten, and with time to grieve As the door opened, she was blinded by sun and sea
The huge head of ignorance always will be in front of us with its distorted facial uglyness.

Only you know what is going on in your heart. Others don't. They don't realize that it's your heart that remains punished. Sometime's we have to make hard decisions. I know I've had to live with a few.
