Sometimes I play around, imagining that I'm a militant Dr. Seuss

Sometimes

Sometimes I prefer to walk alone
     loitering in deep thought
Sometimes I'm on the verge of loneliness
     longing for a shot
Sometimes I repent and pray for world peace
thinking I'm a step forward in redemption at least
Sometimes I'd like to take a walk downtown
with a match and a megaphone pledging
     to burn it down
Sometimes I feel free, don't you? It's like I
have a pass for the things I say and do
Sometimes I feel more restricted, censorship
taxes me and I'm consciously evicted
Sometimes I feel like giving in to the hangman's
noose, while other times I try to walk in
     another man's shoes
Sometimes I'm red, white and bluish patriotic
Sometimes my thoughts are more greyish
     and chaotic
Sometimes I see the world clearly and
often want to fight it, so I wield my
rebel pen in a one man riot
Sometimes I let things be through conditioned
     acceptance; Choosing my battles carefully
     in passive defense
Sometimes I'd like to peel my brain apart, crawl
     in and take a nap
Vacationing from thoughts
     of contradictive crap

super thought provoking piece H, enjoyed it and know the feeling, the people I feel sorry for are the ones who think dumb stuff then go out and do it

Yep! I like what you saying...sometimes...but I like best, after hearing so many lies and broken promises, your admonition to take a vacation from so many contradictory crap.
This one is a keeper.

Diametrically opposed, yet compelling thoughts all of us have at one time or another: excellent capture, HB!
