Crystalline tears etched into glass
within the winds of a frozen July
day. Independence comes not with
ease, but with a downtrodden heart
that lays within the ashen snow
of defeat.
No bell tolled as the battles lost only
brought on the defeat during a long
war of emotional turmoil. Scars dug
in deep, like invisible gouges within
the soil of this frozen wasteland once
known as a heart that shone so brightly.
Only the unknown knows the fate of
this black phoenix that settles at sunset,
when the sun sets below the horizon
to beckon night to fall.
A fire flickers somewhere in the distance,
within the ashen snow of this frozen
July when independence fell.
Just wait and see.
Rose and summer days
