With each passing sunset A small part of me dies With the setting of the sun. As if, in the west, my body is laid out, Just waiting for the light to burn out And never again be rekindled. Toss me to the waves of the oceans Black at night and lost of all devotion As it sways me to endless slumber, Through sensory depravation. Let the tides have their way with me, As I journey throughout time and tragedy, For I am merely a puppet for the world To control, longing for someone to come along And cut these strings from which I dangle. Would thee lay down beside me, Drift away with me upon the sea of time? Cast aside that mortal coil that binds thee To this hateful world, one which drags thou down Along the dregs below the sea, Drowning thy soul in blood red tears Which fall asunder foot that treads Upon hallowed ground precariously. Haphazardly skipping amongst the tombstones, Hide and seek like a small child Raising the dead from their perfect eternal slumber. Let us dance a waltz, shall we? The dead can come and join us in this folly! Now how grand would that be, I ask of thee, To walk hand in hand with a corpse? All we are, are corpses to be We can dance right into the sea, Lose our mortality in the tumultuous waves That crash upon the very shores, Erode away with time enslaved, forevermore.
