What Are Words?
What are words, but little playthings
Strewn across a page for the eyes to read.
What are words, but little tiny dots of colour
In which soaks vibrant hues that swim.
What are words, but a poet’s soul bared
Naked and vulnerable to the world.
What are words, but a soul that bleeds
When wounded and laughs when in high spirits.
What are words to those who cannot see?
Perhaps they are a voice carried
On the winds to all corners of the world,
One that speaks to the very soul.
