An Innocent Decade
Days of yesteryear shine so very bright
As Blueberry Hill rolls along, spinning round
Those white walls truckin’ along, taking
That Chevy for a drive, candy apple red
With cream. Where have all these
Days gone? Are they so lost no one
Can see them any more? Time was slower,
Life a little bit better… or at least the horrors
Not spoken of so much so openly. A decade
Lost to time, living only in memories of
The young and the old. Lets Rock Around
The Clock Tonight! Or, I know, I’ll tell
You to take out the papers and the trash.
Elvis isn’t dead, he’s still alive and kicking on
The radio as Jailhouse Rock is played
On the phonograph.
