Sleep Not This Soul

These dark thoughts, they

Will not leave me be.  As

Life slowly dwindles away,

I wonder, why?  Why is it

Me?  Wicked thoughts of

Red, they leave me standing

There in a pool of tears.  I

Cannot go on like this anymore!

The pain, this is not exquisite,

But excruciating and demanding.

This is not what life should be!

Perhaps I am dreaming of some

Warped reality where I am a queen

And my king does not torture me

With words that cut deep and

Through the bone.  Yet, I cannot

Shun him for what he does, for

He knows not what he does.  Lack

Of communication, how do we

Survive?  So many times, I’ve tried

To end it, and me … yet, I continue

On, trudging through the world

Through tear stained eyes.  I never
Asked for this pain and torment!  What

I’ve sought is death, and even death

Denies me.  What forces me to live,

For I wish not to have it.  Let me rest

In peace, in the darkness with only

My tears to console me for all eternity.

We all have to live with our own private takes on the world. In this respect we are all kings and queens of the universe, all supermen and women, all gods and goddesses.
