Delicate and fragile
A rose is born
Beautiful and scented sweet
Rise up from the ground
Stretch to the sky
A thousand petals
Of silken nature
Rest me upon
Thy rose garden
My soul cries out
As it stretches to the sky
Withering away
Dust we become
To be swallowed up
By the nurturing ground
Come next spring
We will rise again
To bloom and love
Only to rise up above
Life's little flame
Dances about
This wick called flesh
We tumble about
Fingertips so soft
Lightly touching my skin
Only to snuff out the flame
Of my candle within

All I could do at the time of the conversation I mentioned was to simply agree. But behind my words was a very great deal of what i can only term existential continuity. That is a continuity of existence without the certainty and immutability of death. This poem to me contains all of these ideas and more.
