From a distance, with wings spread wide, catching air
currents, he does glide. Soaring through the clouds,
way up there, caught my eye he did! The wind would
carry his song to these ears, and yes I would listen,
still do in fact. For I wait patiently for each new current
so that I might catch a glimpse of that handsome bird,
the one who flies way up there, singing his soft shy song.
I remember the days when I could fly, much like that,
and shared that beautiful song. But now, I hide in the
depths below, afraid and timid, alone. Yet, my eyes
always look skyward in hopes to catch a view of that
great bird as he soars by. Yes, he caught my eye and
now, I admire from a distance, with a warmth in my heart.
But I do always wonder, does he see me wave, as he
floats by on the air currents ... or am I just a tiny little
dot from way up there.
