I've been suffering from writer's block lately, so I'm not sure how good this one is.
In the darkness, there twinkles brightly
a star within the night. Like a diamond,
this wondrous star shines, catching one's
eye. Then, I find myself staring, in awe,
at this precious gem in the sky. The more
I gaze, the clearer my vision ...
This is no star, but a soul ...
One that shines so very bright, the soul
that twinkles up there upon a blanket
of midnight blue. If only I could reach
the sky, build a ladder and climb up high.
If only I could embrace such a soul!
Whispers on the winds, singing songs of
hopes and fears. Dreams laid to rest long
ago, rekindled as Hope's river begins to
flow once more.
The damning voices, I condemn them! If only
they would leave me alone ... and sink back
into the darkness from which they come.
Desperately, I hold onto Hope's flow and gaze
at the stars twinkling above. Always searching,
each night, for that soul up there shining bright.
