Is there any way to strip one’s self
of all emotion? I plead with the
cosmos to grant me this one wish!
If there is no love in the world for
this wretch of a soul, I wish not
to feel anything … any longer!
Confusion has set in, I do not know
which is up nor which is left. I wander
aimlessly upon this earth, in search
of something that does not exist.
Love …
True Love …
I’ve caught glimpses, there is no
doubt. Yet, nothing more has
ever been shown. Love I guess is
like the little sprite who lives in
the grove up the path. Ever elusive,
much like my happiness.
I’m so very tired, yes I am.
The permanent foot trails that lead
across this heart of mine, well they
should be proof enough. I always
thought that Life … and Love …
would be better than this.
Guess I was wrong.
Wrong about everything.
Strip these emotions from me please!
I beg with every ounce of strength left,
take away all this pain and torment!
I no longer wish to feel …
No longer do I wish to care!
Struggling for eternity …
Emotionally exhausted is my soul,
lost and lonely, trapped here in this
Hell. A recluse I should have stayed,
not ventured out, then I wouldn’t
hurt now like I do.
I no longer wish to dream
I no longer wish to feel
I no longer wish to care
I no longer wish to love
I am a halfwit, left to rot on the
side of the path less traveled. Why
did I ever think that you could love
me, for me?
Out over the horizon I peer, eyes
narrow and shaded by a hand. A
lingering shadow again, I’ve seen
him before, either just up ahead or
lingering behind.
Perhaps I am merely seeing things,
an illusion brought forth by endless
pain and torment of my soul. I dare
not call out, afraid I’ll scare this
shadow off. Yet, a glimpse of face
I have caught, and handsome is this
silhouette who shadows me.
I sit and cry, confused.
Lost, alone, scared and trapped in
this Hell along the unbeaten path.
If only I had the courage, the strength,
to call out …
… perhaps, in time.
Yet, timid am I … and my voice, weak.
Perhaps, if I whisper, the wind might
carry my soft voice to his ears, and then
maybe then! he can hear my song.
Alas, this is but a dream …
This is not real …
Just my overly delusional imagination.
Then, just as I turn away to sit back down,
a voice in the distance, with no moving lips …
Thus, leaving me once more befuddled.
