The following poem is from my Poetry book.

The THEME:
One of the worst things we can do is put someone else before the Lord. If we dont put him first, not only do we lack the knowledge of how to love, but we also fail to recognize that lack of love in other people as well.

Poem Artwork

The greatest sin I have ever committed,

is a sin so great, I’m ashamed to admit it.

I betrayed my Christ who loved me much,

to follow my dreams of a woman to touch.

The woman I chose over my dearest Christ,

led me to pay a dearest price.

For me, Christ died on a wooden cross—

but in that woman was a hidden loss.

Christ died for me and shed His own blood; that wasn’t fair,

but still I chose a woman who was ashamed to braid my hair!

Like a fool I turned my back on Christ, as if I didn’t care.

I should’ve listened to Him; his prophecy a warning,

but by the time I woke up, I had forgotten next morning.

His prophecy of the trinity was stern and true .

He preached it to me until He turned black and blue,

but I still refused to pay Him the attention He was due.

I paid that due at my own price in the end.

That woman had nothing to give me or to lend¼

I need Your love now Lord, all that You can send.

Forgive me now Lord, for all that You can.

I’ll never have an idol before You again.

With a grateful heart I enjoy your poem, for our God is merciful, forgiving, compassionate, unconditional love. Despite our many faults and failures, we are precious in His sight.......what a comforting feeling. Thanks for sharing my friend.

Peace,

Bill

Interesting write, yes God comes first. He clears the path for us all to travel. To turn your back on God is turning your back on the true meaning of everlasting life. Enjoyed.

Be safe,
Karen

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
