Where Do I Go From Here?
© 2007
Dan Johnson

Where am I?

I seem to be lost in a fog.
My life seems inconveniently
derailed,
however, I’ve forgotten each murky
detail.

Now I have to figure out
how to get out of here.

Going the wrong way
on a one way track,
can’t go forward,
can’t go back.

Road up ahead is blocked
by trees, shrubs and broken
ties.

My life it seems; turned upside down,
hurled around and buried with
lies.

Question now is
Where do I go from here?

Oh Dan, you hit the nail on the head, where do I go from here, can't go forward and can't go back. Very well done and the picture is perfect, it is as though you are looking at your life as it was. Thank you for sharing. Rose

Your poem reminds me of Jimmy Buffet's "Stranded on a Sandbar." "Stuck in my tracks like a streetcar." I relate well to the message. I think we all get stuck sometimes. Well done!

My friend,
You've penned yet another good piece, this one going in circles with no end in sight. The pic adds a lot to your short poem. Great job!

Nice pen Dan. Of course the answer is to go up. But if you can't get out of the box, it still doesn't keep you from thinking outside of the box. Dennis

I love that photo, and I know that feeling all too well. But usually, that dreaded fog eventually lifts, and I'm once again on my way.
