It is a strong similie for the aging process,and trees, which are so majestic really show their age with a distinct beauty some living many hundreds of years! nicely done, Dan! I love old gnarled

Such a melancholy piece.I have a tree dying from the septic field , of all things and I hate to watch it wither away. Your poem was very touching.
