It Makes Perfect Sense…to me. Dan Johnson © June 29, 2010 What is the use of a house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on? Henry David Thoreau We live on false hopes Plastic buried in landfill Oil covers the earth Cash in hand all gone Debts paid to foreign powers Theirs now was once ours Glaciers melting pools polar bears stranded ice caps circling abysmal drain.

Cash in hand all gone
Debts paid to foreign powers
Theirs now was once ours

I've always thought the Thoreau quote above was extremely prophetic, especially today.

And 2012 is just around the corner, when the earth reaches the end of the 26,000 year cycle. I'd say everything is all up for grabs right about now...

You have hand-picked such poignant details and highlighted them effectively, Dan. Your treatment of this perpetual concern that rumbles round and round in all our minds certainly packs a punch and I love the spareness of wording which makes the ideas and images leap off the page.
