Men I’ve known,
Now old men,
Some;
Successful men,
Self assured men,
Learned life’s lessons,
Lessons learned,
Some-times the hard way.
They knew if they
Stumbled,
Faltered,
Fell to their knees,
These were men who
Never cursed the ills
That fell upon their path,
They never asked why me?
And from time to time they
Allowed for room in their life,
If need be, the chance to cry…
These were men, who rose above the fray,
Always knew the right thing to say,
Yet…
These were humble men,
Not afraid to stumble men,
Never self-absorbed men,
Taking each day
As a gift unearned,
And when times were tough
through all of life’s little twists and turns,
both good and bad
That’s why old men can laugh.
