The long weary trek, worn soles and souls,
We wandered in the desert, a star as guide,
A star then beautiful and bright,
Ornamented camels and riders, gifts in hand,
Passing in the night, before the gate of the great walls,
Helmeted warriors gather there,
With great lanterns search the landscape,
We got caught in their light,
Halt one shouted, where to you think you are going,
We are headed for Palestine, Bethlehem to be exact,
Who is that following you, all those in tow?
We don’t really know,
You need passes, id, let me see,
The soldiers now approach, what is in the saddle bags?
The one called Ben Nemsi ben Yahoo, why do you ask,
No one ever stopped us crossing the dessert,
A thousand miles we rode, wherever God’s star shines on this world,
We are visitors from a far world, in peace we come, no flags unfurled,
Riches we bring for your Messiah,
We are here, not to breach your walls, but your gates,
Seek refuge in the village, for the night is cold,
You are with child, says one of them to Mary,
So go on to town, find refuge, and do not tarry,
On a tablet writes all our names so Netn Herod would know,
The soldiers bit them to go,
Welcome to the land of God, one them shouts!©11/12/2009
