I don't know if you heard the news about the awful, horrible, cruel, despicable, uncivilized, inhumane, heartless euthanasia of thousands of pets in a private for profit pound, without vets, or proper supervision. Why would a City known for it's generous culture of the good life, impose such conditions on poor creatures, to save a buck of course. How about taking an extra dollar of the flesh consumed in all the fine restaurants. It goes on and on, when will we become conscious of the fact of what we are really doing, when will we wake up, it seems our synapses of brain and heart are disconnected. This just happened, and coincided with the enlightened article of Linden Brough, and it is to thank her for speaking out, and for all the poor creatures that have no voice, that I write this.

You could think it be a nightmare,
Among treasures of civilization,
Such horrific news we’d share,
Such abomination,

For profit institutions,
And for want of care,
Atrocities and final solutions,
For our creature friends we’d share,

Avenues and restaurants fine,
Ancient walls with ivy covered,
The best of food and best of wine,
Such cruelty would be uncovered,

The best of meat of baby seal,
Foi gras of force feed ducks,
The best of cuts of crated veal,
Anything, that quacks or sucks,

But this latest I dare say,
Not puppy mills, but sins thereof,
Thousands dead, now on display,
The good life had not shared, nor love,

The pound for money’s sake,
And a city without heart,
For pets a cruel fate,
With cruel pain, made them depart,

It seems, there is a disregard,
For species other than ones own,
Their lives of cruelty is part,
In tourist brochures is not shown,

But then it’s not just Montreal,
Where this time one could find,
Throughout the world et al,
The masses are so blind,

Can’t hear or see, for lack of want,
Or for excuses millions long,
To God and creatures lost our bond,
To heaven cry a rueful song,

But all’s alright for Easter Sake,
The lord forgave us all our sin,
We will escape that fiery lake,
HE died for us to win,

I myself I wonder though,
I can’t conceive of such conceit,
This Easter Bunny that I know,
Was meant for cruel meat,

Can’t think in terms, of me and them,
Of pooches, ducks, or geese, or ham,
Not be related, not a ken,
Excuses make for glut or sham,

But back to pets we love,
Their love unquestioning and kind,
As love would be from God above,
Where else such love you’d find,

Rise up; speak up for them, you can,
Eradicate this blight of soul,
Bring back the soul of man,
Once more, from ken to ken, to make us whole.©23/04/2011

My heart grows sadder each and every day now, as I realize just how many human beings, all across the world, have lost all compassion, and perhaps, their very souls.

Regis is right, we are a scourge.
Bless you once again, Jasmin,
you are a true soul.
In solidarity.

I have "said" it before; humans are a scourge on the face of this planet. Thank you, Jasmin. Love and peace to you,

Regis
