Pay homage to your beliefs

Another divide, another side,

Are we paying homage to?

Thirty silver shekels, or roubles,

Our freedoms would we hide?

It’s is not what it’s cracked up to be,

Has it lost its patina?

A dark horse in the night, a lantern dark,

Why do I barely see?

Wind and weather worn,

Ships and stormy sees,

Contraband of substance,

A divided nation torn,

Have we forgotten its holy grail?

Have we paid homage?

The torment of the time,

Did we not freedom hail?

Have colours changed from green to red,

Have we become our enemy?

Has it changed the saying?

It’s better to be red than dead,

What pillows rest your head?

Nightmares don’t awaken you?

The ghost he rides, to blow the horn,

Is your conscience dead?

Give me liberty or death,

That was the cry,

Was it not?

God bless!©02/03/2017

I rest my head on no pillow. Hence, it makes me free. And I will keep that color green as long as I can be. Keep up the good fight with these poems of might.

yes, the colours are always changed according to the seasons; and the red is going to turn first into white and then into black. So, don't then say that you didn't know that, my friend ;)) Cheers, alex
P.S.
Today all speak about yuan's conversion; why not to bring this into your poetry too!

Give me liberty,
we're up to bat,
facing a narcissistic,
autocrat.

Gilded Prisons by Linda Gould

Major League ballplayer Justin Moore is kidnapped from his own ballpark and transported to a foreign land. It might take high-level international negotiations to free him. Or maybe he will take matters into his own hands.
