Mexican Cantina

We sit at the table

in the mexican cantina

watching the chairs

go floating by

Love flows in the

liquid nectar of mescal

We dance intoxicated dreams

We hold one another

like two ships

floundering at sea

sinking into the liquid night

drunkenly unaware

of the ebb and flow of mescal

we dream upon

Mexican cantina is our home

Any direction the mescal flows

We hold our breath

as the wind blows

whispering into our hearts

A liquid love flows

your long dark hair covers me

The way you dance

I follow in a trance

We float upon the waves of love

the cactus sticking us

We do not venture far

I see you unfurl your sails

drunkenly unaware

of the coming dawn

I unfurl mine, twisted and torn

We flow as love goes

any direction we will follow

Our chairs swallow us

in drunken liquid passion

We kiss one another

two lovers dancing in the light

Mexican cantina is our rendezvous

The midnight love of mescal dreams

Upon liquid nectar

your bed floats

carrying us into loves’ web

It weaves like drunken thread

Our story is told in liquid nectar

love is spoken in drunken verse

I eat the worm

This has plenty of salsa! I could picture the colorful folklorico dresses twirling. I could see the sombreros and sarapes. I could hear the music -- take your pick -- salsa, norteno, cumbia, mariachi. I I love the last line.
