Lovers' Duel

we spin the bottle
just for a chance
we dance the wall flower
we wait for romance
we dance the tango
in musical bravado
we embrace in mock semblance
which we grow into
which we flow away from

we rock and shake
do the slow dance with troubadours
crooning so softly of long ago
the act of love as the finale
we search for the dramas
and trashy film noirs
portraying each other
theatre entices our lines
lines we enact
love as secondary to the mystery
we spin the wheel
to arrive at our destinations
the masquerade of life
the ball
where masked we hide away
pretending to be adults

we spin the bottle
we dance a waltz
just for romance
just for love
we await our chance
to embrace and consummate
our joyous union
yet only love can save us
this duel we perfect

we take it for a spin
