The dragon belchs fire
and smoke, the sky is taint
with an unearthly orange gray
The scent of flowers has grown faint
The sirens and whistles
create a moaning choir
No one dares to slay the beast
though its foul breath scorches
the air, its cancerous hues
for Hell's demons a feast
Lights sparkle in the night like
a thousand burning torches
Where is the shine in this
city of gold, nary a shade of yellow
but thick and black
Its danger echoes in a hiss
Few riches to behold
as the coffins fill in rapid haste
and lie beneath the bricks of gold
How many more hearts will wither and waste?
