Poets Are Messengers

Poets are the eyes, heart and voice of
wisdom, beauty and truth.

GOD gave Poet's the job of bringing thoughts to light,
To write what moves them, whether it is deemed wrong or right.
Sometimes what we expose is not pretty,
Sometimes our poetry will be hard to read, ugly and gritty.
No one really wants to read about the ugly side of life,
Beatings,rapes,wars,murders,sadness,sorrow and strife.
Sometimes our poetey incites folks to be a hanging mob,
We are just getting the message out, because that's our job!
We are given the power to weave words to evoke tears or laughter,
We can create a Magic Kingdom Of Happy Ever After.
No poet is alike, all different as snowflakes,
We write with sweat, blood and tears, whatever it takes.
Erotica, life, death, birth,
We use all the subject matter found on earth.
Poets feel and think differently, we rarely find our place,
We deal in verse, with troubles too painful to face.
We fall in love with love, create an allusion,
The object of our fantasies will soon disappoint, is the sad conclusion.
Being a messenger, sometimes breaks your heart and causes tears,
It is so disappointing when your message comes before blind eyes and deaf ears.

Probably Hermes was the first poet not only a messenger.
You have wrote something in everybody lips but never said aloud.
Thanks.

"The object of our fantasies will soon disappoint, is the sad conclusion." So often the poet is the dreamer who sees what others dare not....and we set ourselves up for disappointment. A heartfelt write here, PA...every word true. Lydi***

It is so disappointing when your message comes before blind eyes and deaf ears. True, verses of wisdom and hope. Happy that God had put me in the list of poets to pass messages of pain and love.
