More Tears For The Trail

My Life Experience has always been walking a Trail Of Tears

Now I lay me down to weep,
Tears fall upon my pillow, there will be no sleep.
I hug myself and whisper," You're okay!"
" Tomorrow might be a better day."
I have always had me,
And that's how it will always be.
People come for awhile, but soon disappear,
When it all boils down, I am the only one here.
I never question me or ask why,
I never judge, scold or say good-bye.
I dwell in the land of alone, a state of mind,
And it really just suits me fine.
I sing Bye Bye Black Bird, as a lullaby,
When I sing," Here no one loves or understands me", I cry.
Another mile traveled on my Trail Of Tears,
I've walk this trail for years and years.
" That which does not kill me, will make me strong",
I say to myself, grit my teeth and then move along.
I whisper," Hush now, time to get back in the race",
" Dry your eyes and paint a smile on your face!"

If you dwell in "the land of alone" you must be their poet laureate. Profoundly sad emotions expressed eloquently here. Lydi**
