When I found him, he was sad and wounded, so I took him home and loved him

I found him quite by chance, he sat mournfully by his dead mate,
He was a beautiful white dove, who was lamenting his fate.
I tenderly picked him up and held him to my heart,
He gazed at me with understanding eyes and trusted me from the start.
I buried his mate and we both cried,
We were sorrowful that she was no longer at his side.
I took him home and loved him tenderly,
Knowing all the while, that someday he would leave me.
He was so gentle and sweet, he taught me how to care,
I treasured each day that he was there.
As I loved and nurtured him, he grew stronger everyday,
He became restless and yearned to fly away.
Then one day he heard the coo of another dove,
I kissed him and whispered," Go Beautiful One, go find a new love!"
I took him outside on my finger, he saw her on the branch of a tree,
Without a backward glance, he flew away from me.
Soon they were billing and cooing, he had found a new mate,
I watched them fly away, through tears of joy, overjoyed ar his new fate.

From all your work this one emerges as one of the best if not the best yet to be produced.
It not only touches the heart of the reader but also the soul of any other poet.
Brilliant and excellent, my hat is off.

SC,
That is very, very rare indeed. For a dove to get over a fallen mate.
I have seen many a dove "go to ground" death to await
by your sweet love he must have felt coerceded.
To go and find another mate.
Bless you sweet one.
