Unfortunately, Emile, I believe the truth is that we may be a nation composed of people of many differing faiths, or no faith at all, with a great percentage of our population that equates being Christian with being everything that true Christianity opposes (oppression, hostility, judging attitudes, deception, and hatred etc. etc.) Who can say that the majority of our leaders today behave as if the Bible contained their Code of Conduct? Once a nation accepts the notion that "everyone should do what is right in their own eyes," that nation is destined for failure. And yet, we must not despair, for the last 100 years of moral debauchery may be the prelude to a new spiritual awakening such as our nation experienced in the great revivals of times gone by. If we are faithful to pray, we may yet see a spiritual and moral awakening in our country.

I think Obama means that "we" are not to be "labeled." I am Canadian. I did not choose that. I am a person of planet Earth. Religion and patriotism have been a scourge on this fragile place for so long... Let us love one another as Jesus asked us to... ...I feel that he felt the way I do. Love and peace to you,

A Nation that grew with Christian Teaching, a Oath of Allegiance, In God we Trust, prayers in our schools, and...
Well, your Nation have no more Christian Teachings, They are considering to take off that "In God we Trust" from the dollar's bills, prayers in our schools are gone, and everything is gone because muslim can be offended (we have lived 200 years with Jews that never felt offended we were Christians and nobody thought to make any fuss about it)
I am thinking when they will eliminate the Oath of Allegiance to no offend the sensibilities of some mullah or imam or ayatollah thousand of miles from our shores.
We are not a Nation that takes in immigrants that will adapt to the laws and customs of their new home-nation, but we are a Nation trying to adapt itself to a bunch of crazies that come here trying to reform us from within!

Two speaches of now President Obama state:
In July 2007 Obama spoke of "Whatever we once were, we're no longer JUST [my emphasis] a Christian nation..."
In Ankara, Turkey yesterday (Apr. 6), Pres. Obama's speach stated "One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
Is that not a democracy? Is this not we want for other nations?
Christianity is not just my religion, it is my whole being...developed thru the love of Jesus Christ; it is not within anyone's power to take that away from me. I don't feel threatened by sharing "my" Nation with, or giving love to, the other religions within Her.

I'm not sure anymore what your Nation is. God has been pretty much eliminated from schools and Christmas. And I understand the His name will soon be erased from your currency. I have thought for a long time that to witness the demise of a small entity is not nearly so painful as watching helplessly as a giant one collapses. Perhaps it's the fear of being buried alive under the rubble. We are just the little people to the north of you. I recall too that the Bible, now outlawed in many places, states that "Every corrupt Nation that falls, falls from within." Ouch X a few hundred million. I for one pray that you do not implode.
