I am sorry about your scare. I am saddened. Labs are usually very gentle. I don't think he means to hurt you. If he had wanted to, he could have taken your fingers off very easily. I am the female St. Francis. of modern day. I love animals.
I was just thinking last night, that I have to write poems for my 2 dogs and 2 cats. Animals have their own personality. My dog Luger is a white German Sheperd but looks like an overgrown tan Lab. He is very gentle but I dare not get my fingers too close when feeding him. He grabs the food and gets too close to my fingers. But-- he would never hurt me intentionally. Maybe your Mom's dog is a little jealous or he feels your fear. Or maybe like my animals, he thinks he is human. I think if you are more gentle and loving with him, he will give the same back to you. You could end up best buddies.
I guess I have to look at the good side of animals, even though I know some are dangerous.
I will say a prayer that Buddy becomes more gentle and loving toward you.

so s orry you got bitten, but glad it wasn't serious or that the dog didn't break the skin! scary when animals bite, whether it was serious or in play! i have had my cat, cajun, bite me a few times, and it always caught me by surprise! the first time she did it, i CRIED! i thought she was mad at me! LOL she'd bite whenever i scratch a certain spot on her belly; she did NOT like it, and she let me KNOW in NO uncertain terms, how she felt about THAT! ANYWAY, rebecca, the dog isn't living up to his name of buddy, is he now??
