Don't let anyone fool ya; there ain't no 'proper way' to write poetry, as long as you write it from your heart and soul, and ya say what ya wanna say.

You write from your "self" and you share thoughts and emotions via your verses; I do believe, in my humble opinion, that is poetry, Staci. Love and best wishes,

What constitutes a poem? Anything you want to say. :) Doesn't all have to have meter (although I'm a boogerbear about meter, myself LOL), or rhyme (not too good at that--been trying more freeverse, don't have to struggle so much). Now certain forms have rules (haiku, for example, the American format has 5/7/5 syllables, should be about nature, etc., etc.) but whatever you want to write, just WRITE. 'K? You write, I'll read and review. Sound good? :)

One can only hope, Staci, one can only hope. I don't do poetry that often, so you're asking the wrong person. Very well done; I believe there's no set rules on how to do it. There's so many variables attached to writing poetry, so many styles, so many formats (is that the right word??). It's all too confusing to me.

PUSh THOSE BOUNDARIES... There are no hard and fast rules..

One can go into enjambment, caesura, Iambic pentameter, such as Shakespeares sonnets. Or chronogram and so on, real poetry to me, is writing from the heart...Rules are for fools but the guidence of wisemen..

Go with the flow of the rhythmn of your heart...

Proper or not??, you would be asking the wrong person,,but I can tell you this,, I read yours, because you speak,, and I listen, Keep writing and I will keep reading. Great Job.
