I have read several poems recently about lost love's leaving and then returning. Those poems reminded me of a lost love I had from many, many years ago in my youth.

Figured it out right away
Why for heaven’s sake you went astray
You did not get what you came for
So you decided to leave one day

Guess your thinking how dumb
You wanted only that something
Thinking a battle you have won
Because you got that nothing

For promises you pledged
Were badly broken instead
You created the unbearable wedge
Blue tears were longingly shed

One fine day you will see
A blinding light will shine bright
Breaking those medal chains free

Your sad loss for sure
Never, ever again and no more
For the heart you ripped and tore
As for you, no longer adored
