My darling precious child
You were my first born,
You have come so far this time.
Last year, your world was torn apart,
Your words that morning still haunt me
"It's Matthew, Mom, Matthew, I don't know
if I can handle this one!"
Your soul mate and dearest love,
departed this earth instantly.
His life was taken in a flash.
He was a hero even at the moment of his death.
I drove past his beat today,
and cried my eyes out.
I still miss him so.
I cannot imagine how you have done it.
You have courage and perseverance
beyond your 34 years.
You have come a long way since that day
and I just wanted to say,
"How proud I am to be your Mom!"
author's notes: Soon it will mark one year since this beautiful soul left us. He was a police officer in Hartford, CT and he was not only an amazing human being, but my daughter's true soul mate..He is missed every minute of everyday..
Amber how my heart is breaking, he will forever be in your hearts and I admire your daughter's strength.

He is missed, but based on his eyes in this photo Sis Amber, he is still here. . . .keep him near you in thought and as the days pass, tears and smiles will come together.
I mourn every fellow officer that has fallen and I have lost many brothers that I have had the pleasure to know and work with personally. It is painful to lose a hero. I thank you for the tribute to him.

Oh my, the pain for your wee lass must be insane, dreaming of a beautiful life together, only to have it stolen...
No mere words can heal the grief, not even time.
Yet in his short life, both were blessed to meet eachother.
My fav poem at such times is:
He Is Gone:
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
Such a shame, Amber; too too young was he! My thoughts and prayers are with your daughter and you during this sad time; may God comfort you and give you a sense of peace and comfort!
