The Essence Of Chief Powhatan

by Amber "V" Moonstone    6/6/08

Such a powerful Chief,
You ruled with wisdom
You ruled with adoration,
You ruled with magnificence.

Standing on your burial mound,
My mind wandered to your reign.
It was over 400 years ago,
but still in the hearts of your people.

You were loved by the masses,
hated by your enemies,
but respected by all living creatures,
even the force of nature.

You taught your people,
to be a proud nation,
a fighting nation,
and surviving nation.

The Pamunkey Indian tribe,
is a proud nation of people,
they have been on their land,
since the beginning of mankind.

One of the oldest surviving tribes,
and it was due to your influence.
There is no one living today,
that does not know your name.

You had a beauty of a princess,
Pochahontas, she represented peace,
harmony, and love.
She always chose those qualities.

You, Chief Powhatan,
have touched my soul
I will not ever forget your spirit,
nor will I falter from my mission.

I will tell the story of your forgotten people
I will spread peace, love, and light,
I will tell of Karena's healing powers,
I will show the world to love again.

It was your message,
on that hot June afternoon in 2008,
while I stood on your burial mound,
asking for your guidance and wisdom;

Your spirit came to me,
and said, go my child,
you must conclude your journey,
You must tell our story!

So now, I continue to search,
for facts and answers,
I ask Brother Wind, Father Sky,
and Mother Earth for protection and guidance!

authors notes: It was on, June 5, 2008, that I had this remarkable experience. I connected with Powhatan's spirit and vowed to tell the story of his people, the real story.

May peace, love, and light, follow you all the days of the rest of your life,

Amber "V" Moonstone

Touching revelation, Amber...I, too, incorporate in an upcoming novel the spirit of Chief Abiaka and his connection to his horse who is now reincarnated and living in the modern day. The horse re-connects with Seminole Chief Abiaka's spirit in the swamps of Florida. It is storytellers like us who keep it alive. I very much enjoyed The Essence of Chief Powhatan. I can hear Powhatan and Abiaka both thinking about how to speak the words, how to use their vocal tract to make the correct sound for their people...be well always V...Blessed Be.

My Sioux heart felt the peace and awe you felt on that mount, because nobody can erase clouds, as nobody can erase Chief Powhatan memory.

A wonderful and touching write my friend, your voice is heard loud and clear through this poem...amazing the experiences that we can have if we open our heart and mind to the possiblities. I had a similar experience when I found an arrow head buried in the soil of my garden...an instant transportation...a vision that I'll never forget! My ancestors were Cherokee...enjoyed this much!
Blessings,

Amber, what a fantastic tribute to Chief Powhatan, this must have been one heart touching experience as you stood on his mound. You're words paint a picture of a great Chief who lead his people and taught them wisdom, adoration, and magnificence during his rein. It'll be great to read your other finds. A great tribute!
