Mystical Enchantment

Waves of lover's promises
echoeing within the rolling surf,
calling like an enchanted mermaid,
Tantalizing, enticing passionate verses.

Spoken words during passionate embraces,
broken promises leaving stinging traces,
of a love that was never meant to be,
signals calling from the violent sea.

Drowning in regrets, and hurtful words,
leaving was the only thing to do.
The siren's call was overwhelming,
and you sailed away without a look behind.

Have you ever regreted this departure,
while losing your true soul mate?
Or entertain thoughts to go and find this love
to fulfill what was sent from above?

The sea has been your sanctity,
cleansing waters of purity,
but the sea can only cleanse what is outside,
the darkness that dwells within, remains untouched.

The mermaid's plea, is not unheard,
Enticing lovers to follow her out to sea,
that begins the stormy weather,
with no chance for swimming back to safety.

author's notes:  Not sure where this is coming from, but I have always had a fascination with mermaids and their affect on humans.
