Dissolving, torn dreams and shattered hopes,

Forfeit to a heartless god of curse…

Body-parts, souls hanging on thick ropes,

Waiting for the vultures to disperse.

I’ve been here before; I have been there,

Hopelessly lost in dark corridors,

Charging like a bull, deep in despair,

Fighting the murderous matadors.

Now in dark deserted corridors

I have again dark shadows to fight,

Decayed dinosaurs, behind closed doors,

Barring my way to finding the light.

Lost hopelessly, alone with my fears,

Stumbling, just like a staggering blind…

Behind every bend a dragon leers

In the dark corridors of my mind.

If I’m lost, I might as well be dead,

There’s no hope if the light I can’t find,

There would be nothing left, but deep dread,

In the dark corridors of my mind.

Open the windows, let in the light,

Chase out the darkness, open the door.

Let my spirit take on a brave flight,

Like an ascending bright meteor.

Dear Peter,
this is an excellent write and a haunting picture.
Hope the light will shine again for you soon.
Thanks for your message. I read everything, but still could not figure out what is wrong. Everything okay with the family?
Stay strong.

Ah Peter, you have captured that darkness so well, excellently expressed, love the hope at the end...

Peter, we all have "dark shadows" to fight now and again--been there myself. I've felt totally lost, but God provided a way and a light. Hopelessness is the one lost, not oneself. Fantastic how you bring these "dark shadows" to "light" . . . b

Peter, Ed forwarded your poem to me, and for that I am thankful, as I may never have experienced this brilliant elegy of dark thoughts from the subconscious. I am far from being a religious person, but if anyone believes there will be light, I am sure there will be light.
Peace to you,
Reg.

Dear Peter

What a poem! Somethings resonate in me about the "things" in these corridors. However, I have to keep reminding myself that the corridors are so dark, because I believe that the brightest light cannot reach there - and that's an illusion.

Light reaches everywhere - if I let myself believe it. For there is no light without shaddow and no shaddow without light!

May "Ain Sof Aur" = Limitless Light = bless and keep you!
Yours
Gabor

Peter this is an exceptional piece with deep feeling and pain. You have expressed it well here. Hang in there and see the light. Two thumbs up my friend.

Peter, I think that perhaps this is your best yet, as I am no literary master critic or like that, but I found the rhyme and rhythm to be excellent, it reads like you have been writing all you life, like you know quite well the english language and are a master poet...

It also reads of a background that is painful with memories that will not let go, and I feel for you although I know pity is not what you want, although retribution may be a good thought, huh?

Again, I like this one, Peter and will let others see it and hear of it...Peace is the ONLY way, Ed & Rufuz
