A Christmas moan… and Greetings…

Bah, humbug! Christmas is a giant pain! Cards keep flooding in… again… and again… No rest, no relief… presents must be bought… Even when my bank-balance contains… NOUGHT!... “What’s the point?! “– I cry. “Stop the charade! To hell with the mince pies and marmalade!” Just give me a smile, tell me a good joke, Before I become financially broke. I want nothing; my house is full of junk, I’d be better off being a poor monk, So, please no Christmas Cards, no Santa Claus, Just donate to some charitable cause… Pick up a child; give him a big warm hug, Smile at him or her and say: “Honey-bug” There’s no need for cards, no need for presents, Christmas – after all – has a “Love Essence”… Just hold out your hand for a friendly shake… And do it with a big smile for Christ’s sake! © P J Oszmann (2008) © Illustration (from original etching and mezzotint of 1969) created in Photoshop (2008) Merry Christmas and Best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Successful and Prosperous New Year to all my fellow Authors and Readers, with many thanks for your support. This would have made a marvelous Christmas card, Peter. I see it is still popular after 'lo these many years without USPS help, so I'll just 'like' it along, its message being all the more valid now.

BAH the Humbug! LOL I think people are so grinchy this time of year because they've forgotten the REAL Reason behind the Season: Jesus' Birth. Now, Jesus may not have actually been born ON December 25th, but that's the day we celebrate HIS Birthday. I know you are Jewish; that doesn't matter to me. It's just that people have become desensitized, too commercialized, too--grinchy--in their thinking; to them, Christmas is nothing but an overblown, overcommercialized MESS. Shame! Very well written thought provoker you've penned here, Peter; very well done! BRAVO!

Bah, HUMbugs!! LOL Peter, methinks the reason the season makes us so danged grouchy is because most have forgotten the REAL Reason for the Season: the birth of the Christ child. Yes, I know you're Jewish, doesn't matter. Greed has taken precedence ... and that crosses all "religious" lines. A thought provoking write, very well penned.
