Thank You, My Friend
By Marissa Ccouchon

I was lost inside my shell
locked into my version of hell
wandering down dark halls
worried about life's pitfalls
I found a way to get me through
a path that led me straight to you
I shut the doors so I wont see
the horror locked inside of me
Now when I look back to find
things are lost inside my mind
now that you're here with me
I feel safe to find the key
You hold me when I'm shakin'
when people ask I say "I'm taken"
Proud as I can be to have you here by me
while I root out the demons locked in me
I know you'll keep me safe from insanity
and you'll be there when I take stock
I know this because you are my rock
I can face my demons without shame
because you understand my pain
so I have one thing to say before the end
Thank you for being my friend
