High maintenance friend Obsession with acceptance Lost in romance’s gaze Mistaking kindness for affection One-sided love affair Fantasies of the mind Fragile ego, delicate heart Ineffective subtle messages Uncomfortable with directness Pushing gently away Increasing the distance Energy expended Emotional exhaustion Reducing contact Fading, running away Breaking the connection Moving on © Michael R Wood 2002
