The Loss

Veils covered the eyes Rain masked the tears Not everyone cries So many gone these last few years So innocent at birth Then slow corruption of the soul Finally resting in the earth Life's final role Sadness overwhelms the heart Friendships come to an end Families torn apart Yet others begin again Memories protect the past The future is so unclear For each the die is cast For each life seems more dear And what of us, And what of us.
