Broken Men

I wrote this when my friend here, Makai, said the last 2 lines to me upon seeing a picture of Jesus sitting on the cross with a crown of thorns and his head hung low, blood on his back. He reminded me what Jesus meant us to be.

Poem Artwork

broken men stumble

wrapped in dirty golden skies

protecting fragile diamond lives

baring teeth and claw

tiny insects on their backs

legs kicking in pointless attack

motorized circles descend

this maze of broken men

trapped forever in ifs and whens

tomorrow's glory promised

within empty starry eyes

yet a depth of love's denied

it is of these that killed a Man

who came to save a land

and hung upon a cross

humanity's true loss

and when upon His death

He rose with a new breath

a child then to say-

"They didn't have to kill God."

"They could've just talked to Him."

Love you, Makai xxxxx

The most famous example of unrespected life. Too much blood has been shed without question. Your young friend is wise, and your poem strikes an important message. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Touching piece...i think that every living man on this world will be able to relate to this poem...Makai must be one very intelligent kid for he understands what most adults fail to....that there can be so much achieved if we will just listen..i myself am wrapped up and trapped in a lot of ifs and whens...eye and opening piece really..Bravo!

The part about broken men rings so true about some men who never seem to know how to make life work. Jesus was not one of them.

"The light of love began to grow", on that day so long ago. Man's inhumanity to his fellow man is still in evidence daily. On that day, man's inhumanity/lack of faith, to his own God was in evidence. What pathetic creatures we can be. Give thanks, praise and be forever humbled to our loving, forgiving, gracious God. You have created a swirl of emotions difficult for me to effectively express with your deeply moving, spiritual poem. Jon Michael Willey

...all the beauty found in innocence...then and now...and how do we find light in all the darkness...but in these words...broken we will forever be...until perhaps only skies remain.
excellent Michelle...

Michelle, this poem in all honesty made a tear come to eye. Absolutely beautiful the reflection painted here. Through a child's eyes and voice, sometimes a masterpiece come about. This is most definetly a masterpiece...

"Out of the mouth of babes"
An emotional poem Michelle.
It reminded me of Oswald Chambers (March 24th)
"You may often see Jesus Christ wreck a life before He saves it."

How very precious for they didn't have to kill God, they could have talked to Him. From the mouth of an innocent child. Thank you for sharing Michelle. Give Makai a hug for me.

The first twelve lines of this poem are exquisite in their depth of expression. Dirt and Gold do not usually go together. An effective image. Diamonds are not fragile either, but the strongest gemstone. These broken men must guard what matters little. The insects on their backs freak me out!..but this is what pointless diversions imitate. (like watching TV) The broken men (reminds me of "The Hollow Men") are trapped in a state of intense anxiety, never able to relax. How profound! Yes, talk before killing, most of all our precious Jesus.

I can't find the right words to comment justifiably on what you express here, Michelle. I mean that in the most respectful way. Love and best wishes to you,
