rough fingertips
brush my shoulder
lights flaring overhead
broken bulbs on country roads
his lips are there now
on the edge of my lips
back behind the pines
where his dog would run wild
we flipped a coin and he won
(it all tasted like midnight)
and kisses left on bedposts
i didn't know they grew this here
sighs and whispers on blades of grass
rough stubble in soft places
the hoot of an owl a song began
eclipsing these mountains
i forgot to leave breadcrumbs
through the woods of this dark
lost in the sound
of the beat of your heart
where i toss and turn on violets
in a sleeping bag with you
wonderful work here Michelle...

I like some country though, don't get me wrong. ;)

But then 'country' music today is much different than yesteryears.
An enjoyable read on your perspective.
