This was inspired by a painting by Radish Tordia called "Music," but I love the idea of gyspies, so added that spin on it. My close friends know I love the gypsy look and am forever wearing scarves, bandanas, hoop earrings, etc., lol, and still put up with the pirate gypsy woman that i wish i was, lucky for me :)

That link has some work by the Georgian artist

Vibrant gypsy hearts-- yes, I met them there

while thin strings of gold day played in my hair

and their bows were quite long, to kiss the sky

with fine notes that even the birds could not deny

green shadows twisted high upon the echoing winds

and all the colors of life’s travels then blended in

as if, yes, even those very colors had danced it, too

red purple colored browns and faded sky blues

balancing it upon my chin as the song had begun

I taught the laughing notes how to skip and to run

it was a well-learned lesson, too, for my eager eyes

to catch upon dust and sunlight how a tune replies

Oh, to serenade with glee their slimmest wood necks

then to caress them gentle, with the utmost respect

but how to tame my unruly fingers before they pluck

it is how one shall find that great music is struck

beats thud much bolder than weighty elephant feet

yes, to crest and fall as the roughest waves repeat

to meet this fractured walk of such thunderous beat

to raise high these roofs and shake hard these seats

bang on again, dear friends, for we shall rest in time

when the ear is reached and romanced by this art sublime

for in music is the magic, all of creation’s passion and need

to carry away all the problems that make life’s joys recede

you gently pick the strings, them strum the notes of Granada's caves -- and the music lives to stimulate love in all of the rose scented air -- this is a very special message Michelle -- I absolutely adore the way you orchestrated this story of love -- my peace and love be always with you -- JMW

I haven't heard Gypsy music except stylized by the likes of Cher. I have, in the dead of winter, shared a rail car with four Gypsies on the way to Frankfort. One was a real beauty with short, black hair, the other girl, less attractive, was missing a front tooth.

I held on to my wallet.

Your poem, "Gypsy Music" is wonderfuly energetic and uplifting! Each well worded phrase takes me into the Gypsy experience -- I hear the violins and guitars! I see the colored shirts and skirts and gold earrings -- and I wanna dance! Into my library this poem goes! Bravo Michelle! Thanks!

I love it as when I was a child I thought I could grow up to be whatever I wanted and my choice then was to be a Gypsy as I danced morning noon and evening, my nick name from the family was Gypsy Rosalie. Cute and thank you for sharing Michelle.

Your Nomadic soul and carefree heart peaks out at your readers in this one as if to say pull up a crate, have a glass of wine and let me entertain you. I could feel guitar strings beneath my fingers and yes I even saw the flash of billowy colored skirts and puffy white blouse as you danced with abandon. Lovely indeed Michelle...lovely.

Dear Michelle,I liked this poem as it is close to my way of life where I was born, we had Gypsies in our town and they played the guitar and the drums in the summer. We enjoyed together the starry skies at the sound of the music. Great work, brava and Happy New Year Emile
